Welcome to MHCS Culture Department!

Welcome to the 2018 – 2019 MHCS Culture Department. We would like to make special introductions for the following culture classes. Spots are available for registration during the first two weeks of the school.

民族舞蹈 Chinese Folk Dance – (Age 5 -15) We had a great 2017-2018 school year with renowned Chinese Folk Dance Teacher, Mina Chao 杜明娜*. Under her great teaching, her students radiated with beautiful choreography at both Chinese New Year Performance and CACA Fun Day. Ms. Chao has many years of experience teaching Chinese folk dance and dance choreography. She currently also teaches Chinese Folk Dance at MJCS and RVCS.

*Mina Chao 杜明娜: 自幼跟隨多位老師習舞多年﹐豐富的表演經驗﹐參加舞蹈競賽﹐編舞創作﹐並長期進修舞蹈表演藝術﹐包括中國舞﹐古典及現代芭蕾﹐國際標準舞﹐現代舞﹐倘佯在舞蹈藝術相關的領域內﹐不斷地提昇自己。從事編舞及舞蹈教學多年﹐亦曾訓練模特兒走台步。現任教於數所中文學校民族舞蹈課﹐編舞及參加校內﹑外演出/比賽。


兒童唱遊 Children Singing Class - (Age 3-7) We are pleased to announce that Qiong Jin 金琼 has joined MHCS to teach the Singing Class starting this fall. In this class, children will gain exposure to Chinese language and culture/tradition through popular nursery rhymes and folk songs. Ms. Jin has a passion for singing and dancing. She will engage the younger students to sing through various dance movements and games."


文化拼盤 Culture Platter -(Age 5 & up) This is one of our most popular culture classes. Students will have exposure to different kinds of traditional Chinese toys and games. This class will introduce a good variety of traditional Chinese stories, songs, toys, sand pocket, shuttlecock, tops, jump ropes, Yo-Yo, Calligraphy, fan and bamboo dance, chopsticks, origami and paper cutting, Chinese knot, and games.


繪畫 Child Drawing -(Age 6 - 10) Do you aspire to be an artist? Come and explore a variety of art forms with our NEW teacher, Kate Yu 彭于玲. She and her family have joined MHCS this fall. She will assist students in building concepts and techniques of a good drawing with expressing creativity. Student will have exposure to shape, light, perspective, color, layout, and color matching.


棋藝 Child Chinese chess - (Age 7 & up) Kevin Chan will introduce students to Chinese Chess and learn to master the skills. Each student will be proficient in rules, basic movements and game competition.


Lego® Robotic Club - ( For students age 8-12) Led by National First Lego® League team members, the curriculum is designed to teach students to design Lego® EV3 models and master the programming of basic movements, and then progress to more difficult challenges. The challenges are similar to the FLL challenges. It is the perfect combination for model building and programming.


Adult Lion Dance Club: This club will be lead by our ever enthusiastic Kung-Fu teacher, Adam Cheung. Adam and his family have many years of experience in performing Lion Dance prior to joining MHCS in Boston. He and his family have performed in many festivals and fairs last year to promote our school. Mommy and Daddy are encouraged to participate- it is a great way to socialize with other parents.


成人扯鈴 Adult YoYo Class – This class is taught by our very best YoYo teacher, Stephen Kuo (郭立中). The class is fun and therapeutic for the mind. It’s never too late to learn a new sport! The class requires a minimum 6 students to start, so grab a few friends and let the fun begin!
